Carey McQueen Obituary

Mr. Cary McQueen, 80 of Youngstown transitioned from this life on Tuesday May 12, 2026 at Austintown Health Care Center with his family by his side. 

Mr. McQueen was born March 2, 1946 in Youngstown, the son Lester Kitts and Sally Ward McQueen.  He attended East High School and had been employed by Reeds Arena and Barrette Cadillac.  He attended New Bethel Baptist Church and served on the Security Committee.  He was also well known for his skate dancing at the former Reeds Arena. 

He leaves to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life and legacy, his wife, Betty Mae Wilson McQueen; two sons, Carey McQueen Jr., Carey McQueen; his daughter, Camille McQueen; his adopted children, Jeremiah McQueen and Alexis Deborah McQueen; his stepchildren, Earnestine Wilson and Louis Mahamed Pesha (Sadie) Amaz; and a host of grandchildren, other family and friends.

 He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Ward; and a daughter, Deborah McBride; and his grandparents.

Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman Street, Youngstown.  A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to L.E. Black. Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
