Bessie Pearl Jones

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church for Mrs. Bessie Pearl Jones, 89, of Youngstown, who peacefully entered eternal life on Saturday, November 24, 2018.

            Mrs. Jones was born November 7, 1929 in Pittsview, Alabama, a daughter of Simon and Prescilla Battle.   A devoted homemaker, Bessie was also a senior care provider and a well sought after babysitter.  She was a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, a trustee’s wife, and Church Mother.   She enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and cooking.

            She leaves to cherish her legacy of love, two daughters, Joyce Hines-Jones and Kathy Jones-Reed both of Youngstown; three sons, John B. Jones of Youngstown, Gregory Jones of Morgantown, WVA, and Allen L. Jones Sr. of Columbus; a sister, Prescilla Jordon of Hatchechubbee, Alabama; 25 grandchildren, including LaTalia Jones, Allen Jones II, and Brian Jones, Sr., whom she reared.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Jones, who passed away November 25, 2003; and 7 siblings.

            Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
