Bessie Mae Jackson

            Mrs. Bessie Mae Cherry Jackson, 92, of Youngstown, transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

            Mrs. Jackson was born May 14, 1932, a daughter of Dan Emage and Nancy Cherry Hardy.  Bessie had worked as a domestic technician for a private family for 50 years, retiring in 1999.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, its Mission Ministry, Senior Choir, Sunday School, Food Pantry, Culinary ministry and always volunteered her help wherever it was needed.

            Bessie leaves to mourn her passing, but to cherish her memory and legacy, her sister, Nancy Pearson of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, church family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ozzie, who she married in 1951 and who passed away in 2015; four brothers, A. C. Cherry, Jeff Cherry, Nathaniel Hardy, R. C. Cherry; and her sister, Rosie Marie Cherry Butler.

            Visitation will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Avenue, Youngstown.  A celebration of life service will follow at 12:00 noon.   Her final resting place will be at the Sandridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Selma, Alabama.
