Barbara Ann Traylor, 91, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio affectionately known as “Mother Traylor”, received her heavenly wings on Sunday, December 8, 2024. She was born on June 7, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky to the union of the late Napoleon and Lillian Warren. She was a member of Mount Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in Rockmart, GA, and a beloved member of Union Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio where she was a Deaconess before moving to Georgia.
Barbara was a graduate of East High School in Youngstown, Ohio where she met the love of her life, Charles Traylor, and they were united in holy maternity for 28 years. Charles passed away in 2005 and now they are together again.
Barbara was a dedicated woman of many crafts. She worked for Youngstown State University for a short time; and as a self-taught seamstress, her passion was making prom and wedding gowns, curtains, shawls for the pastor and other accessories for her church and others who she enjoyed sharing time with. If you knew Barbara, she was a fashionista in her own right. She was dressed for every occasion. What she cherished the most was going with her church family on cruises, talking and visiting with her very close friends and family.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Sandra E. Underwood and her son, Wayne Kurtis Evans both of Dallas, GA.; her bonus children, John Traylor, Jonathan Traylor, Pamela Traylor-Hanserd, Carolann Traylor and Marcus Traylor; grandchildren, Terry (Bernadette) Marshall of Buffalo, NY and Candace (Vincent) Clark of Dallas, GA. She helped rear her great-grandchildren Vincent (Diane) Clark and Brandace (Chris) Santos. Besides her children and grandchildren, she leaves a special friend of 20 years Sister Louise Adam and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Kenneth T. Evans, Charles Jr. Traylor, Diana Traylor-Finley, Sandra Traylor and Denise Traylor.
Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Youngstown, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm.
