Barbara Ann Shelton

     Mrs. Barbara Ann Scott Shelton, 68, of Youngstown, transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, March 28, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.  

     Barbara was born on December 1, 1956, in Montgomery, Alabama. She is the daughter of Robert Lee Brown and Lillian Adams. She was a 1975 graduate of East High School. And in 1992 she received her LPN degree from Choffin Career Center. In 2018 she obtained an associate’s degree from Eastern Gateway.

     She was employed with Omni Manor Nursing Home for 20 years, Forum Health, and Maxim Healthcare Services until retirement. 

     Barbara truly loved the Lord and accepted Christ in 1986. She was a former member of Phillips Chapel COGIC and presently a member of New Birth Kimmelbrook. She was an usher, choir member, and Sunday School secretary. She was a part of the culinary, children and Vacation Bible School ministries.  

     She was a member of the S.O.F.A (Seniors out for Action) group. And enjoyed traveling, shopping, social games (especially Spades) and was an avid tennis fan. She was also an animal lover, especially of cats and dogs. 

     Barbara leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life and legacy: her mother Lillian Storey, husband Frederick Shelton Sr., whom she married June 16, 1984; her two children, twins, Chanelle and Chantelle Scott, and stepson Frederick Jr.  Eight grandchildren: Michelle, Chiara, Camryn, Mekhia, Chantelle Jr., Shaniya, Shyla, and Prince Chantelle. Four great-grandchildren Nehemiah and Londynn whom she reared, De’jon and Khyir.  She also leaves her siblings, Yvonne, lovingly known as “Sister” Robert Lee Jr., Adrieanne (Bre) Yvette (deceased) and SheneeQua.  Special friends, Shirley, Madeline, Florence, Elvirida and Corinthia as well as a host of other family and friends. 

     Greeting her at Heaven’s Gate is her father, Robert Lee Brown; adopted father, Willie J. Scott Jr and stepfather, Melvin Storey and grandparents James and Alberta Adams.  

     Visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2025, from 11-12:00 noon at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Avenue, Youngstown Ohio. A celebration of life service will follow at 12:00 noon.
