Barbara J. Betters

Mrs. Barbara J. Betters 98, departed this life on Thursday April 4, 2024 at Hospice House Poland, Ohio. 

Barbara was born June 23, 1925 in Youngstown a daughter of Charles Sr. and Bertha Gibbs Benford.  She was a graduated from East High School in 1943.  She married the love of life, George Betters, April 27, 1955 and was a homemaker, and after 41 wonderful years, he passed away January 8, 1996.  She loved knitting and crocheting.  She was a faithful member of Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church where she served in the Missionary Society and sang in the Senior Choir. 

She leaves to mourn her passing her nephew and his wife who were her caregivers, Philip and Catherine Hodge of Hubbard, OH; her niece, Lynette Murry; other nieces and nephews and her good neighbor, Rosa Adams. 

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Hodge and Dorothy Ricketts; three brothers, Clement G. Benford, Paul L. Benford and Charles L. Benford Jr.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday April 11, 2024 at Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church 718 Albert Street Youngstown, OH. 44506 with Funeral Services starting at 11:00 a.m.
