Mr. Arthur Lemons Sr. (“Papa Lem”)
Mr. Arthur Lemons, Sr. also affectionately known as “Papa Lem” departed this life at his home on October 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Lemons was born May 9, 1934 in Everettville, W. Virginia, a son of Charlie L. Lemons and Mary Ann Seay Lemons. He graduated from Monongalia High School in 1954. He was an US Army Veteran. He had been employed by Valley Mold and Iron Company and retired in 1986. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America. He joined Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, November 7, 1976, and served in the Brotherhood Ministry. Papa Lem was an avid reader, loved to recite poetry, and was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Golden State Warriors and the 2024 World Series Champions Los Angeles Dodgers. His true pastime pleasure was a good game of Bid -Whist.
Papa Lem leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 63 years the former Delores Buie; seven children; Henry L. (Kathy) Jackson of Hermitage, PA., Lois M. and John Jackson, Sr. both of Farrell, PA., Gloria J. Wright of Frankfort, KY., Joann Woodson and Gregory Lemons both of Youngstown, OH.; and Arthur Jr. (Kathy) Lemons of Hendersonville TN. Brother-in-law, Arthur Buie of Youngstown; two sister-in-laws; Dorothy Shaw of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Ella Mae Lemons of Pritchard, Alabama; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Oze, Alvin, and Charles Jr., a grandson Maurice L. Buie, son-in-law Anthony F. Wright, and daughter-in-law Rita McClain.
Visitation will be Saturday November 9, 2024, from 9:00-10:00am at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 2045 Jacobs Road Youngstown, OH. with homegoing service at 10:00am. Services of Dignity and Love entrusted to L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
