Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. for Ms. Ana DeJesus, 76, of Brooklyn, NY who departed this earthly life and transitioned to her spiritual eternal home at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio where she took her last breaths with her daughter Luisa A. Helms by her side.
Ms. DeJesus was born on October 28, 1947 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, daughter to Demencia Ortiz from Culebra, Puerto Rico. Ms. DeJesus went to school up to 11th grade in Escuela Luis Muñoz Rivera in Rio Piedras,Puerto Rico until she had her first born Luis G. Serrano. She then got her GED in Brooklyn and went to Wilfred Beauty Academy and became a hairstylist. She used her skills to cut and style many family members, friends including her own children. Ms DeJesus spent most of her life working as a mother and housewife until her later adult years. She worked housekeeping for Nelson’s and Martha’s Cleaning Company, then Mobile Health where she remained until she retired at 62 years of age. She was a member of Transformation Church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY directed by Pastors Ramon and Angela Perez and Marisol Polanco. She was baptized and commenced her personal relationship with her Lord and Savior.
She loved to dance like Iris Chacon and sing like Ana Gabriel (especially on Saturday’s our cleaning day). She enjoyed taking vacations with her daughter and granddaughters. She loved visiting her children and grandchildren even great grandson, Malcom in Ohio. She also loved her word find puzzles, making cultural foods for her family and friends like pasteles, pastelon, alcapurrias, surullos de queso. All the Christmas trimmings like arroz dulce, coquito, dulce de coco, and hot chocolate with the Cortes chocolate bar and queso de papa. She was an extremely good cook. She was always the life of the party and lived life to the fullest! Her self-confidence was unreal, she never cared about what the next person thought of her or what they had to say. She wore what she wanted to, talked like she wanted to, lived the way she wanted to! She never let anyone’s words ever put her down. She had a rough childhood and upbringing as the 4th daughter out of 9 children, but she persevered and made a life and future for herself and her children in Brooklyn, NY where she lived most of her years except for about 5-6 years in Youngstown then she returned to Brooklyn; then lived with her daughter Rosalea Serrano and grandson Rosen Owen Serrano for 5-6 months before returning to her hometown Brooklyn, NY until April 2024 where she then lived in Waterville, Ohio with her daughter Luisa A. Helms
She now leaves this physical space to cherish her beloved memories - her only son, Luis G. Serrano DeJesus (Carrie) of Youngstown, Ohio; her daughters from eldest to youngest, Rosalea Serrano of Evansville, Indiana, Yvette M. Maisonet-Chipoco (Jose) of Brooklyn, NY, and Luisa A. And a bunch of loving dedicated friends and extended family members- too many people to name individually.

Psalms 91 (in Spanish and English)
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. ' 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.
