Alphonso Sacardo Booker

Mr. Alphonso Sacardo Booker, Jr., 58, of Youngstown, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 31, 2025.

            Mr. Booker, affectionately known as “Book”, was born October 24, 1966 in Gary, Indiana, a son of Alphonso S. Sr. and Sallie Cobb Booker.  He was a 1985 graduate of East High School, and received his AA degree in Science from Youngstown State University.  He was employed by Easco Aluminum in Girard prior to becoming disabled.  Alphonso didn’t let his disability stop him, he conquered his life like a maze and always found himself right at the finished line.   He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved his “P Funk George Clinton”.  He enjoyed his family always laughing and cracking jokes that would have you in tears. He loved dancing, fishing, and his love for family time.  Alphonso was loved by all who he came in contact with.  He always went the extra mile when it came to helping anyone until he became ill. 

            Alphonso is survived by his children, twin girls, Nataya (Levi) Poling and Lataya (Justin) Cooperider both of Columbus, Justin Booker and Aiden Booker both of Youngstown, and Marlon Booker of Atlanta, GA; a stepdaughter, Roniesha Adams of Columbus; his siblings, Felicia (Ron) Kitchen and Howard Booker both of Youngstown, Jacqui (Tony) Camm of Forest, VA; a special nephew who he helped to rear, Brian Murray Jr. of Youngstown; his aunt who he held dear to his heart, Annie Hall of Youngstown; grandchildren, Caleb and Jacob Poling, and Isaac and Brandon Cooperider; his fiance`, Jermika Smith of Youngstown; and a host of family and friends

            He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, William and Matilda Lamb-Cobb.

            The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.  Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 noon.
