Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Thomas David Bailey, Jr., 65, of Wilkinsburg, PA, who departed this life on Friday, December 7, 2018.
Mr. Bailey, affectionately known as “Butch”, was born April 12, 1953 in Youngstown, a son of Thomas D. Bailey, Sr. and Sarah Kimberly. He had worked in the maintenance department of the VA Administration of Pittsburgh. As a child, he grew up under the pastorate of his grandfather, the late Rev. Henry Kimberly, of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Youngstown. He was an 18 year member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, where he was a minister in training, a member of the male chorus, men’s ministry, prison ministry and volunteered wherever he was needed. He loved the Lord Jesus and spread the gospel everywhere he went. He had a passion for Dolphins, enjoyed eating, and was a sports fan of the Chicago Bears, boxing and was a body builder.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved daughter and her husband, Tishla and Jerome McGinnis of Columbus; two grandchildren, Jerae and Ja’Onna McGinnis both of Columbus; two sisters, Amelia Bailey of Pittsburgh, PA and Juanita Bailey of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Thomas (Sheila) Bailey of Greensburg, PA and Willie (Vera) Bailey of Youngstown; an aunt, Mildred Kimberly of Youngstown; two childhood friends, Rev. Chris London and Jessie Mohammed; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
