Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 at the New Hope Baptist Church for Mr. Ruby McPeters, 91, of Sandusky, formerly of Hubbard, who transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Ohio Veteran Home in Sandusky.
Mr. McPeters, affectionately known as “Mac”, was born August 21, 1926 in Ripley, Mississippi, a son of Oliver Sr. and Annie Norman McPeters. He joined the Army March 2, 1945 and after serving during the Asiatic Pacific Theater, received an Honorable discharge December 2, 1946. Ruby worked as a truck driver with Synder Bentley Company for 34 years, the Northeast Fabricating Company and City Mechanical Technology, Inc., from 2003 - 2006. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, its usher ministry and help with many jobs around the church. He was a member of Donald Lockett Post 6488. Ruby’s greatest passion was gardening, in which he raised vegetables only to give them away to people in the area. He loved to collect photos of family and friends, plan family events and traveled to many countries of the world.
He leaves to mourn his passing, but to rejoice in his peace his wife, the former Norline Pat Monroe; a stepson, Stanley (Sandra) Wallace of Hubbard, OH; two brothers, Oliver McPeters, Jr. of Hubbard and James McPeters of Twinsburg; grandchildren, Toyoa (Edward) Wallace-Davis, Terrance (Crystal) Pankey, Stanley Wallace, Jr., Israel (Shenandoah) Jackson, Jr., Armand Jackson, and Amber Jackson; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Doris Brown, Annette Brown, Darla Dunlap, Anderson “AC” Brown, Jr., and Aundra (Jody) Brown; and a host of other family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Jackson; stepson, Steven Wallace; a granddaughter, Tosha Pankey; sisters, Gladys McPeters Burgess, Mary McPeters and Effie McPeters Brown; brothers, Jimmy, Paul, and Ruth McPeters.
Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
