Robert Underwood Obituary

            Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at McGuffey Center, 1649 McGuffey Rd., for Mr. Robert Underwood, Sr., 81, of Youngstown, who transitioned from this life to eternal rest on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

            Mr. Underwood was born September 6, 1936 in Marion, Alabama, a son of Earl and Janie Millingley Underwood.  He was a 1954 graduate of North High School.   He had worked at Aero Dynamics and last worked as a driver with CCS Transportation for over 9 years, retiring in 2010.  He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, the Youngstown-Warren Urban League, and VFW Donald Lockett Post 6488.  He enjoyed tennis, bike riding, music (especially Sunday evenings at “Jazz in the Park”) playing the bongos and fishing.  He was a U. S. Army veteran.

            He leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Robert (Carol) Underwood, Jr. and Anthony Underwood both of Youngstown, Vance “Keno” Fleming of Cleveland, Emmanuel Underwood and Dennis Underwood both of Canton; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; his furry toy poodle “Snow”; and a host of family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janiar Riddle; and a brother, Gene Underwood.
