Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., Youngstown for Mr. Richard Lampley, Sr. who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

Mr. Lampley was born August 4, 1943 in Union Springs, Alabama, a son of Jessie and Eula Mae White Lampley, Sr.  He was a 1962 graduate of The Rayen School.  Richard had been employed as an assembler with General Motors Lordstown, retiring after over 35 years of service.  He was a member of Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, a steward, pastor’s steward, president of the Lay Council, van driver and former choir member.  He was a member of a CB Club and the N.A.A.C.P.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, music and cooking.  He was a proud U. S. Navy veteran.

He leaves to mourn his passing, but rejoice in the peace that awaited him, his wife, the former Martha Christian, whom he married in 1987; five children, Jada Strickland and Kelly Lampley both of Youngstown, Minister Richard (Chekesha) Lampley of Warren, Ansen Christian of Jackson, Mississippi and James Bennett, Jr. of Boonesville, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren; his sister, Margie Roller of  Youngstown; two brothers, Jerry Lampley, Sr. of Youngstown and Cicero (Sheila) Lampley of Liberty, OH; his aunt, Mary Carter of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nehews, other family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Darryl Gunn Lampley; two sisters, Elaine Crankfield and Emma R. Lampley; and his brother, Jessie Lampley, Jr.

Friend may call Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements provided by the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
