Mr. Oscar James “Skip” Heard, 71, of Youngstown transitioned from this life on May 11, 2019 with his family at his side.
Mr. Heard was born April 14, 1948 in Youngstown, a son of James L. and Arminta Hobson Heard. “Skip” was a 1966 graduate of East High School, and joined the U. S. Marine Corp immediately after graduation, having served during the Vietnam era. He was an electrician by trade and was a member of Phillips Chapel CME Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3514 and American Legion Post 446. “Skip” enjoyed fishing, hunting, music, and being with his family and friends.
He leaves to forever cherish his memories his son, Oscar J. (Belinda) Heard, Jr. of Buffalo, NY; 6 grandchildren, Oscar III, Shaquil, Elyssia, James, Aja and Taylor; a great grandson, Noah; a brother, Roger (Barbara) Heard of Mustang, Oklahoma; aunts, Catherine Witherspoon of Hempstead, New York and Evelyn Ridgely of Mt. Pleasant, PA; his fiancé, Cherub Taylor of Youngstown; and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Arminta Fant; and two brothers, Vincent and Leslie Heard.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Phillips Chapel CME Church, 718 Albert Street, Youngstown, Ohio. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m.
