Services will be 11:00am Monday October 16, 2017 at L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Ola Lee Burley 91, who departed this life October 9, 2017. 

Mrs. Burley was born October 8, 1926 in Bishopville, SC, a daughter of Laddie Sr. and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Jet Spann.  In her early adult years she worked as a Nurse’s Aide in Philadelphia, Pa. where she met and married Willie C. Burley in 1947 and they moved to Youngstown, Ohio.  She worked as a cook and caterer for Strouss-Hirshberg Co for 28 years.  She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan as well as other sports.  She was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Nurse’s Guild, Kitchen Staff, Usher Board and Mission Ministries.  She also was a member of the Eastern Stars.  She loved traveling, being with her family, and maintaining her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.                                                                                                                                             

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories, nine children Gloria (Lester Wiley) Spann- Burley of Columbiana, Carol Turner-Burley, Willie (Beverly A. Butler) Burley, Dwight (Juanita) Burley, Curtis, Rose, Jerald, Bertie and Deania Burley all of Youngstown; a brother Jessie Spann of Florida; 38 grandchildren; including Calvin “Don” Burley whom she reared; 61 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren; her best friend Lestene McElroy, nieces Jackie Burley, Barbara, Connie and  Willamenia ; a host of God- children; and a host of God- grandchildren and other relatives and friends.                                                       

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willie C. Burley; two brothers Laddie Jr. and Bud Spann; a sister Adelia Spann and a granddaughter Sheree Burley; an aunt Rovenia Woodall, sister-in-law Carrie Davis; nephew Clarence “Shunnie” Burley, a neice Elizabeth “Libby” Woods and her children Bridget and Latisha Lowe.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service 10-11:00am at the funeral home.
