Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Antioch Baptist Church, 110 Funston Street, for Mrs. Nellie Pearl Harvey, 89 of Youngtown, who transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Monday, December 10, 2018.
Mrs. Harvey was born February 28, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, a daughter of Jessie and Daisy Prather Harris. She had worked as a chef with the Golden Drumstick Restaurant and various nursing home, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, its mission, senior ushers and pastor’s aide ministries. She enjoyed watching TV and movies; socializing with her family and friends (especially going to dinner), and talking on the phone encouraging others.
She leaves to cherish her beloved memories, three daughters, Patricia Shaw Patton of Cleveland, Mary L. Bridges of Youngstown, and Barbara McClain of California; two sons, John E. (Francine) Harvey and Gerald W. (Stephanie) Harvey both of Youngstown; 70 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, including Yolanda Shaw whom she reared.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Aurthur Harvey, whom she married June 9, 1945 and who passed away in 1987; a daughter, Deborah Harvey; two sons, Tony L. and James Corky Harvey; a stepdaughter, Rosetta Bobo; two sisters, Marie Harris and Minnie E. Hurst; two brothers, Jessie Harris, Jr. and Charlie Houston; and a grandson, Kevin L. Harvey whom she reared.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
