McCoy "Mac" Hayes, Sr.

       Services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Metro Assembly of God, 2530 South Avenue, for Mr. McCoy “Mac” Hayes Sr. who departed this life May 25, 2018.

      “Mac” was born March 17, 1938 in Minden, W. VA.,  a son of Cladyes Sr. and Emma Coy Robinson Hayes.  He was a 1956 graduate of North High School.  He had been employed for over 26 years as a Tow Motor Driver for Syro Steel and was owner/operator of his business, 'Mac’s Bait Shop'.  He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, boating and tinkering, building and repairing all types of equipment.  

      He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 59 years, the former Carol Benson, whom he married March 7, 1959; a daughter Dr. Gladyes Hayes of New Port Richey, FL.; three sons McCoy Jr. (Julia) Hayes of Columbus, Michael A. (Carol) Hayes of Youngstown and Rev. John K. (Denise) Hayes of Aurora, CO.; a brother, Norris Hayes of Santa Maria, CA.; three sisters, JoAnn Kemp of Washington, DC.; Marva Wilson and Gladys Wilson both of Detroit; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Ida Mae Hayes, Elder Lois Hayes and Dr. Louise Hayes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.         

     He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Cladyes Hayes Jr., Bishop McCarthy Hayes, Earl, his wife Betty Hayes and Jerome Hayes.

     Friends may call on Friday June 1, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home; and on Saturday one hour prior to the services 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the church.
