Louise J. Martin

Services will be 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Louise J. Martin, 87, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center – Youngstown.

            Mrs. Martin was born August 30, 1930 in Thorpe, West Virginia, a daughter of Wyatt and Rosa Woodard James.  A loving homemaker, she was a former member of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church where she was a former usher.  Louise loved attending Bible studies and church conferences.  She enjoyed shopping and cooking.

            She leaves to cherish her beloved memories three children, Arthur R. (Ursula) Martin of Cleveland, Sandra L. Jackson and M. Courtney D. Martin both of Youngstown; five grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S., whom she married February 14, 1953 and who passed away in October 1990; two sisters, Carrie James and Mary Lucy Norton; and a brother, Sylvester James.

            Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
