Services will be 12 noon on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Heavenly Place Church of God In Christ, 1350 Katherine Avenue, for Mrs. Louella “Lou” Harmon, 81, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Mrs. Harmon was born July 6, 1936 in Hemingway, South Carolina, a daughter of R. Pringle and Martha Woodberry, and was raised by her stepfather, Troy Leggett.  Mrs. Harmon had been employed with St. Elizabeth Hospital, retiring after over 30 years of service.  She was a member of Holy Temple Church of God In Christ, its Mother’s Board, Culinary Ministry, Nurses Guild, outreach ministry, President of the Pastor’s Aide, and sang with a gospel group.  She was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes.  Louella enjoyed cooking, shopping, and spending time with her loving family.

She leaves to mourn her passing, but to rejoice in her peace, her children, Hiran (Yvette) Woodberry Sr., Dawna (Rudy) Echols-Snipes, Evangelist Regina Harmon, Deaconess Roberta (Min. Michael) Geathers and Evangelist Lovella Harmon all of Youngstown; three stepchildren, Robert (Allison) Harmon, Sr. of Troy, MI, Min. Marcia Walker of Youngstown and Zeffie Harmon of Tampa, FL; two godchildren, Evangelist Veranda Willingham of Columbus and Kimberly Benson of Youngstown; 24 grandchildren (whom she helped to mentor); 45 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harmon whom she married in 1962 and who passed away in 1970; her sisters, Bessie Mae Bell, Byotha May, Saddie Mae Williams, Virginia Leggett, Creola Davis; her brothers, Cooper Woodberry, Early Woodberry, Floyd Leggett, Albert Leggett, Robert “Mac” Leggett, Roy “Forest” Leggett and Julius “Bub” Leggett.

Friends may call on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. – 12 noon at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
