Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Miss Lizelle R. Shorter, 51, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the comfort of her home.

Lizelle was born December 3, 1965 in Youngstown, a daughter of Vernon Grace and Gloria Shorter Jonner. She studied at the Mahoning County Joint Vocational School, was a 1984 graduate of South High School and completed courses at Youngstown State University for two years. She was a member of Kingdom Hall Central and found joy in reading, walking through the Mill Creek Park, and listening to music, especially DJ Quick. She loved her family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother; three daughters, Jalesa Shorter, Nicely and Glorisa McQueen, all of Youngstown; two brothers, Vernon A. Grace and Dawayne Brooks, both of Youngstown; a step-son, Michael Washington of Youngstown;  three grandchildren, Jaleah Tutwiler, Mar’Cel Hammond and Sa’Mir McQueen; her companion, Horace McQueen; two special cousins, Yolanda and Fred Winlock; and a host of other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her father; and her grandparents, Marie and Luther Shorter.

Friends may call from noon – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
