A celebration of the life of Laverne Green of Austintown will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Road. 

Laverne accepted Christ as her Savior and went home with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center following complications from the flu and extended illness.

Laverne was born July 10, 1952 in Youngstown, a daughter of Herbert Sr. and Jessie Mae Horton Green.  She was raised as a child in Beulah Temple United Holy Church and through the years saw the Lord work in many miraculous ways.  She was a 1971 graduate of South High School; however she spent many years giving her time and care to her elder sister who was ill.  She was a very generous person who went all out to give to family and friends, and anyone in need.

She leaves to cherish her memory and rejoice in her salvation, her devoted sister, Mary Green of Austintown; her loving brothers, Herbert Green Jr. of Altus Oklahoma and Clyde Fisher of Columbus; two special nieces, Stacey Green of Austintown and Tanika Hodge of San Antonio, TX; a cousin Sylvester Miller of Hawaii who she was very close to; a few nephews and many cousins whom she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Lilly Green.
