The Home going services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Rd. for Karen Deanna Harper who made her heavenly transition home on Monday, March 25, 2019. Karen was born on May 14, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio. Karen was the daughter of the late Henry Harper and Thelma Brown.
Karen was a retiree of Sherwin Williams, which later became US Can Company where she worked for over 37 years as a press operator. Karen loved cooking, baking and spending time with family. She had been a former member of Union Baptist Church and served as an usher. She was also a member of the Naomi Temple #124 Daughter of the Elks.
Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Yvette (Stefan) Christopher of Lakewood, CA; her sisters Doreen Harper (Tom) McCarthy of Youngstown and Blythe Floyd of the Bronx NY; her brothers, Robert .(Artelia) Bowens Sr. of Youngstown, Vincent Harper of Youngstown, Dwain (Mary) Harper of Suffolk, VA, Henry (Cheryl) Harper, George Lamont Harper, and Kenny (Betty) Bowens of Youngstown, Randy (Wanda) Brown of the Bronx, NY; her granddaughter, Destini Favors; great granddaughter, Madison Favors; a niece, Yalanda Harper of Virginia Beach, VA; a great niece and two great nephews whom she reared, Bre’azia Smith, Brandon Smith and Jaylen Harper; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, LaHarda Harper; and a niece LaTosha Harper who she reared.
Friends may call on Sunday March 31, 2019 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Monday, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
