Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Joseph Rayfield Oliver, 51, of Liberty Township, who departed this life Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Oliver, affectionately known as “Ray”, was born June 8, 1966 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Annie Boykins Oliver. He was a 1984 graduate of South High School and received his certification from Tri-State Trucking Academy. He was a truck driver for 15 years with P.A.M. Transportation. He had also driven previous for Youngstown City Schools and Direct Transit. He was a former member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church; and the N.A.A.C.P. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Football fan, loved singing and mentoring children.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memories, two sisters, Amanda Rivers and Phyllis Stinson; three brothers, Gary (Glenda) Oliver, Timothy (Jill) Oliver and Dwayne Oliver all of Youngstown; godchildren, Nia Daltoria, Jordan Wylie and Deron Burke; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Waverly Glenn Oliver; and a sister, Frances Elaine Oliver.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
