Funeral services for Mr. John William Gore, 74, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at the Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 66th 10th St. in Campbell. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Gore was born Oct. 1, 1942, in Campbell, a son of Robert Clyde and Lena Bankhead Gore.

He graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1961 and immediately enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in 1965.

Mr. Gore was a lifelong member of the Greater Liberty Baptist Church, where he proudly served as a Deacon, youth Sunday School teacher, Male Chorus and Church Treasurer.

Mr. Gore worked at Cold Medal Products and Howard’s Funeral Home, both for more than 30 years, from which he retired. For the past 15 years, he has also been an active member of VFW Donald Lockett Post 6488. Mr. Gore enjoyed rebuilding cars, cooking, golfing and spending time with family. He will be dearly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 54 years, Laura “Cookie” Gore, of Youngstown; one daughter, Kisha (Derrick) Cathey of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Diamond and Sapphire Cathey, both of Youngstown; two brothers, Robert Clyde Gore and Leroy (Elsa) Gore; one sister-in-law, Jacqueline Gore, and brother-in-law, Ralph Cash Sr., all of Campbell; and a host of godchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Alice Gore-Hobby, Leola Cash, Loretta Gore and Mary Milhouse; one brother, Earl Gore Sr.; and one nephew, Earl Gore Jr., whom he reared.

Formal calling hours will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at the L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home in Youngstown from 5 to 7 p.m. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, at the church, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
