Jerdine Mayes

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018  at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 110 Funston Street, Youngstown for Mrs. Jerdine Mayes, who transcended to her heavenly home on September 9, 2018 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center - Youngstown. 

Mrs. Mayes was born June 13, 1945 in Philadelphia, MS,  a daughter of Albert Sr. and Minnie Latimore Graham.  She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Senior Usher and Mission Ministries.  She loved cooking, hairstyling, bingo and being with her family.                              

She leaves to mourn her passing but rejoice in her peace, her husband of 55 years, Charles, whom she married October 7, 1963; two sons, Billy and Ben Mayes both of Youngstown; a daughter, Margaret Rose Abercrombie of Leeds, Ala; a sister, Edna Jackson and a brother Albert Graham Jr. both of Detroit; 20 grand-children including three whom she reared, Imanie, Benjamin R. and Venita Mayes of Youngstown; 44 great-grandchildren; a favorite brother-in-law, Willie James Mayes of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.         

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Jr.; a daughter, Sheila Mayes; seven brothers, Henry, Elbert, Wilbert, Gilbert, Charles, Prentice and Elijah Graham; a sister, Josephine Graham McKinney; and a grandson, Billy Ray Mayes Jr. 

Friends may call one hour prior to the services 10-11:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements were entrusted to L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
