Services will be 12:00 noon on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 2821 Hillman Street, for Mrs. Inez Neely who ascended to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Neely was born December 17, 1934 in Wetumpka, Alabama, a daughter of Alex and Johnnie Mae Smith Favors. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Mt. Gilead until her health prevented her from attending. She loved cooking and watching the Court TV shows and being with family.
She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy, her children, Gloria (David) Dyson of Youngstown, Michael (LaSonya) Neely of Port Arthur, TX, Deon (Freeman) Allen and Carl Fleeton whom she reared both of Youngstown and Charlotte Murphy of Crofton, MD; a nephew, Johnny Favors, whom she reared; a brother, Alex (Theola) Favors; a sister-in-law, Irene Howard of Dayton; a step-brother, Tommy Jackson of Youngstown; a loving daughter-in-law, Carol Neely; special friends, Nellie Harvey and Sylvia Hunter both of Youngstown; a cousin, whom she adored, Cobie Phillips; her furry companion, Clyde; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl of 51 years, whom she married May 29, 1950 and who passed away July 8, 2001; her children, Lola Neely Fleeton, Sarah Neely and Danny Neely; her siblings, A.C. Favors, John Henry Favors, Mary K. Favors and Willie Mae Cunningham; her grandchildren, Shiron Neely who passed away on March 18, 2018, Donnell Mitchell; and a great-grandson De’Vail Fleeton.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services 11:00am-12:00pm at the church. Arrangements were handled by L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
