George Malone

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Zion Hill Baptist Church for Mr. George Thomas Malone, 91, of Youngstown, who transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center.

            Mr. Malone was born February 14, 1927 in Sallis, Mississippi, a son of Thomas and Betty Smith Malone.  He had been employed with LTV Republic Steel for 30 years, retiring in 1980.  He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, its trustee, usher and choir ministries.  He enjoyed gardening, western movies, and the Cleveland Indians.  He was a U. S. Army World War II veteran.

            He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Thomas J. Malone of Waterloo, Iowa; his nephew and caregiver, Steve and his wife Delphine Skinner; and a host of other family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Barbara Harmon, Dorothy Malone, Lillie Mae Skinner, and Gwen Malone.

            Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
