Elder Terry Lee Carter, Sr.

           Services for Elder Terry Lee Carter, Sr., 71,  of Youngstown will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, 1812 Oak Hill Avenue.  Elder Carter passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the St. Elizabeth Health Center.

            Elder Carter was born March 2, 1947 in Sharon, PA, a son of George L. and Hasseltine Adams Carter.  He was a 1966 graduate of Sharon High School and attended Youngstown State University.  He was a U. S. Airforce veteran.  He had been employed with Greenwood Chevrolet as a salesman for over 25 years, retiring in 2001.   He was a member and Assistant Pastor of Word and Music Ministries under the pastorate of Rev. Duane Turnage. He served as a counselor, teacher and was a true Bible Scholar.  He loved golfing, gardening, fishing, chess, and solitare.  He had a great sense of humor and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan.   His favorite athletes were LeBron James and Tiger Woods.

            He leaves to mourn his passing, but to rejoice in his eternal peace, his wife, the former Yvette Williams, whom he married March 25, 1972; a daughter, Nichole D. Carter of Chattanooga, TN; two sons, Terry L. (Ashley) “Pepper” Carter, Jr. and Benjamin P. (Kathy) Carter both of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother, Tyrone (Cathy) Carter of Wheatland, PA; two sisters, Delores Pope of Sharon, PA and Mildred (Jesse) Jennings of Alexandria, VA; four grandchildren, Nichole, Myles, Ethan, and Elias; two godchildren, Janielle Moss and Natasha Flores; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his parents.

            Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
