Services will be Friday, November 9, 2018 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Doris Mae Gipson, 72, of Youngstown, who departed this life on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Gipson was born December 5, 1945 in Portland, Arkansas, a daughter of Howard L. Sr. and Lillie M. Williams Lewis. She had been employed with Assumption Nursing Home, retiring in 2012 after 20 years of service. She was a member of New Life In Christ Church Ministry where she was a church mother.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, LeRoy Gipson Sr.; a granddaughter, Tomeka Gipson of Little Rock, Arkansas; four great grandchildren, Antony Richardson II, Serenity Aaron, Jarvis and Jeremiah Horton all of Little Rock, Arkansas; siblings, James (Jewelean) Lewis, Sr., Nancy (Joe, Sr.) Frazier, Alberta Hampton all of Youngstown, Lizzie (Cleveland)Caldwell of Struthers, Debbie Cobbin of Liberty; Howard (Joyce) Lewis, Jr., Roosevelt (Rose Mary) Lewis, Sr., Charlett Lewis Lacefield, Charles (Dawn) Lewis, Sr., and Pamela Richie all of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Stacy Davis of England, Arkansas; goddaughter and neice, Betty Watt of Youngstown; godfamily, Lakesha Reese, Brenda Stanley, Maursadie McElroy and JaMeia Perry all of Youngstown; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Lillie M. Godfrey, LeRoy Lewis, Sr., LeAndrew Lewis, Ozell Lewis, Willie Lewis, and Daron Williams, Sr.
Friends may call Friday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A special thank you to emergency responders, emergency staff, doctors, social workers, nursing staff and to all who helped to care for our sister, Doris Gipson, at Mercy Health. Also a very special thank you to her longtime physician, Dr. Spratt.
