Services will be 12:00 noon on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Victory Christian Center – Coitsville Campus for Detective Sgt. John A. Perdue, 65, of Boardman, who entered eternal life on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center – Boardman.
Det. Sgt. Perdue was born November 25, 1953 in Warren, Ohio, a son of John P. and Lelia Pearl Daniel Perdue. He was a 1971 graduate of South High School and was a Vietnam Army veteran. On November 14, 1978, John was appointed to the Youngstown Police Department. He worked for 40 years and had planned to retire in February 2019. He had worked in the departments of Domestic Violence, Juvenile, Special Investigations, Homicide, and with the State Pharmacy Board. He was a member of New Life Church and its Audio Ministry. He was a member of Youngstown Police Ranking Officers (Y-PRO). John was an avid Cleveland Browns fan; had a great sense of humor, enjoyed cooking, traveling, loved working with YPD and especially loved his family.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, his siblings, Shelley Hightower of Columbus, Pauline Stonework of Youngstown, Timothy “Timmy” Perdue of Pontiac, MI, Deborah (Clarence) Smith of Boardman, Marcia (Darryl) Thomas of Saginaw, MI, David L. (Ursula) Perdue of Streetsboro, and Darren L. (Annette) Perdue of Indianapolis, IN; goddaughter, Jillena Smith; sister-in-law, Michelle Salcido; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home; and from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Victory Christian Center.
