Homegoing services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Christ Centered Church for Mr. Derrick Carlton Veal, 31. of Toledo, formerly of Youngstown, who was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Mercy St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo.
Mr. Veal was born November 19, 1987 in Youngstown, a son of David Jr. and Evelyn Bradley Veal. He was a 2006 graduate of The Rayen School, where he played football and was part of the 2005-2006 City Champions. He was a former member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church and later joined Christ Centered Church. Derrick was employed with the Amaya Fresh Mexican Grill in Monroe, Michigan where he was the general manager. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and enjoyed traveling and family gatherings. His loving personality and kindness was felt by all who knew him and his affectionate smile would light up any room.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his parents; grandparents, Rose Jennings of Youngstown and Savannah Veal of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, David (LaKeisha) Veal III and De’Andre Veal; a sister, Demetra Veal all of Youngstown; three aunts, Julia Anderson of Indianapolis, IN, Tonja (Craig) Bowman of Homewood, IL and Veronica Owens of Youngstown; an uncle, Julius Veal of Indianapolis, IN; very close friends who became like family while he was living in Toledo, the Amaya Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David Veal Sr., Lafayette Jennings and Delores Jennings; three aunts, Sharon Jennings, Theresa Jennings-Parks and Linda Jennings; and an uncle, Lafayette Jennings Jr.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
