Services will be 12:00 noon Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Shiloh Baptist Church for Mr. Delmar McClendon, 88, of Campbell, who was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday July 5, 2017
Mr. McClendon was born December 15, 1928 in Dublin, Georgia a son of Eugene and Julia Hines McClendon. He was a 1946 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. He had been employed with LTV Steel, retiring after 39 years of service. Delmar was a United States Army veteran. He had been a member of Shiloh Baptist Church since 1944, having served on its Deacon Board, as Sunday School superintendent and teacher, and a member of the male chorus. He was an avid bowler.
Mr. McClendon was a member of the Silver Moon Lodge No. 20 A.F. & A.M. Jurisdiction of Ohio; Ameriah Lodge of Perfection No. 7; the M.N. Boozier Chapter No. 3 Royal Arch Masons; St. Paul Commandery No. 39 Knights of Temple; 32nd degree of Charles H. Isaac Consistory No. 6; 33 rd degree of John L. Nelson Grand Council of Deliberation Valley of Ohio; Potentate Arab Shine Templar No. 3.He was also a member of the Elizabeth Grand Chapter O.E.S., Cleveland, Ohio; Elizabeth Court No. 1; Heroines of Jericho, Past Joshua; Elector Council No. 24 Ladies Knight Templar; Sir Knight Ambassador; Rollins Memorial College No. 24 past Most Excellent Advisor, past Patron of Silver Star Chapter No. 4; Patron of St. Mary Chapter; Illustrious Patron over Ruth Court No. 23.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Michael McClendon and Patricia (Leon) Beachman both of Alamogordo, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Nicole (Eric) Greene, Michael McClendon, Todd McClendon and his fiancé, Saida, and Victoria (Cody) Long; three great grandchildren, Ariel and Darrien Greene, Connor Long; and a host of family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Carole Rollins, who passed away in 2009; and two brothers, Hubert and Herbert McClendon.
Visitations hours will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 5-7:00 pm at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home; and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at the church.
