Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Clemon E. Wood, 94, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.
Mr. Wood was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Tupelo, Miss., a son of Lee and Ruby Stone Easterwood. Clemon enjoyed social games, fishing, cooking and cars. Mr. Wood was a U.S. Army veteran and retired after 23 years of service. After retiring from the Armed Forces, he, along with his family, relocated to Youngstown and worked for Sharon Steel, retiring after over 20 years of service. Clemon was a devoted father and husband who was always there for his family. His service and love went beyond measure for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories and honor his legacy, three daughters, Rosalyn Tarver of Youngstown, Hazel Wood-MacArthur of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Ruby Easterwood of Nashville, Tenn.; three sons, Walthall (Sandra) Wood of Bollingbrook, Ill., Lee Wood of Chicago and Aaron Wood of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 60 years, the former Levater Lee Cannon, whom he married Nov. 29, 1952, and who passed away Jan. 17, 2013; his son, Clemon Easterwood; and his sister, Pauline Easterwood.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
