Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Community Church of God, 710 Sanderson St., Campbell, for Mr. Clarence White , Sr., 76, of Youngstown, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. White, affectionately known as “Billy Ocean”, was born May 19, 1941 in Youngstown a son of Leroy and Lillie May Tomlin White. He was a 1959 graduate of East High School. Clarence had been employed with Youngstown Foundry for several years; was a fork lift operator at General Motors Lordstown for 39 years, retiring in 2005, and was a member of UAW Local 1112. He was a faith member of Community Church of God (formerly Himrod Church of God), where he served as Trustee chairperson and van driver. He also was a volunteer for many years with the Rescue Mission of Youngstown. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, who thoroughly enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers. He also enjoyed grilling and traveling.
He leaves to mourn his passing, but rejoice in his peace, his devoted wife, the former Loretta Snipes, whom he married March 5, 1966; three children, Lynette D. White Yinusa of Detroit, MI, Benjamin J. Snipes of Bronx, NY, and Marlin McPeters of Ashtabula; six grandchildren including, Courtney A. (Fjori) White of Pittsburgh, PA whom he reared; 2 great grandchildren; two brothers, James White and Curtis (Clematis) White both of Youngstown; two sisters, Odessa (Samuel) Livas of Youngstown and Rebecca White of Tampa, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, including a special cousin, Ronald Tomlin, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Clarence White, Jr, and Shaun M. White; and a brother, Samuel White.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00– 11:00 a.m. at the church.
