Cheryl Lynn Underwood-Waring

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2018 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Underwood-Waring, 68, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic – Main.

            Mrs. Underwood-Waring was born August 23, 1950 in Youngstown, a daughter of John M. Hill, Sr. and Ella Mae Underwood.  She was a graduate of the Philadelphia, PA school system; received her certification in Basic Electronics from I.C.S. in Philadelphia, and was a licensed culinary chef.  She had been employed with Danridge Burgundi Manor as a cook, retiring in 2011.  She was a former member of New Bethel Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, music, singing, being with family, and cats and dogs.

            She leaves to cherish her beloved memory her husband of 16 years, Allan, whom she married April 27, 2002;  her son, Jeffrey A. Johnson; her grandson, Tyler A. Johnson; brothers, Noah (Rosetta) DeWitt Underwood of Lawrenceville, GA, and Richard (Exie) Hill of Austintown; sisters, Kathy L. Underwood of Boardman, Mary A. Smith of Youngstown and Sylvia Cash of Columbus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins (including a special cousin, Gloria Underwood), other family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother who reared her, Ella Irene Underwood; siblings, Eurcella Jones, John “June” Hill and Paul “Akie” Hill; aunts, Catherine Johnson and Lucy “Bell” Harbin; and uncles, Carl, William “Bill” and James Underwood.

            Visitation will be Monday, October 22, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
