Betty J. Williams

            Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church for Mrs. Betty J. Williams, 82, of Boardman, who quietly and peacefully transitioned from this life on Sunday, September 16, 2018.

            Mrs. Williams was born, April 5, 1936 in Youngstown, a daughter of Clarence W. Sr. and Cora L. Cheatham Brown.  She matriculated through the Youngstown City School system, and graduated from South High School.  After many years of being a homemaker and stay at home Mom, she began working as an auxiliary clerk/secretary at Calvary Christian Academy of Higher Learning, and secretary at Legacy Academy for Leaders and the Arts.   With her compassion, wisdom, and guidance she touched the lives of many, including students, her family and others. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, where she served as an Altar Evangelist and as a faithful intercessor, as well as serving in the culinary ministry.  She was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan, and an avid reader and writer of poetry.

            She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Shirley (James) Jordan of Englewood, NJ and Janice Brown, with whom she made her home in Boardman; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and a host of family and friends.

            Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Antuane and Kevin Williams; four sisters, Verlene Brown, Faye Townsend, Charlotte Brown and Estelle Williams; and a brother, Clarence Brown, Jr..

            Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
