Betty Carter Obituary

           Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Mt. Olive Fire Baptized Holiness Church, 124 W. Marion Avenue, Youngstown, for Mrs. Betty L. Carter, 77, of Boardman, who departed this life Saturday, April 14, 2018 at her residence.

            Mrs. Carter was born July 28, 1940 in Youngstown, a daughter of  Beale and Mattie Warren Grissett.  She was a 1958 graduate of North High School.  She had been employed as a Ward Clerk at Forum Health Northside Hospital for 35 years retiring in 1996.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Fire Baptized Holiness Church, serving in it’s Deaconess Ministry, was church clerk, chairman of the finance committee, assistant chairman of the trustee ministry, a Sunday School teacher, District Chairman of the N. E. Ohio, District Secretary and was on the committee for the Department of Religious Education.  Betty enjoyed shopping, sewing, cooking and traveling and spending time with family.

            She leaves to cherish her beloved and precious memories two daughters, Gwendolyn (Rev. Bennie) Hardin of Youngstown and Sheila Carter of Cleveland; a son, Robert Earl Carter; five grandchildren, Adrienne Paige, Justin Paige, Dorian Williams, Demetrius Williams and Deidre Williams; four great grandchildren Braylon, Brandon and Brianna Paige and Carter Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert L., whom she married in 1958 and who passed away in 1995;  sister, Ruth Grant; and brother, James Grissett.

            Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
