Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home for Ms. Ava M. Spann, 68, of Youngstown who departed this life on Sunday, November 11, 2018.
Ava was born June 23, 1950 in Youngstown a daughter of Willie Sr. and Georgetta Smith Spann. She was a 1969 graduate of South High School and had been employed as a nurse for Colonial Manor. She was a former member of Ebenezer C.O.G.I.C. She loved listening to gospel music and being with her family.
She is survived by five brothers, Sgt. Willie (Michelle) Spann of Florida, Elder Keith Spann, Robert Spann, Myron Spann and Martin Spann all of Youngstown; five sisters, Georgetta Madison of Youngstown, Jackie (Kenny) Menton of Campbell, Janice (Walter) Waddell of Florida, Pamela (Ezell) Jones and Marva (Ollie) Gilford both of Youngstown; two children whom she reared Lori and Casey Leggett; an uncle, Major Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Avis A. Roland; and her companion, Charles Goodley.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service (10-11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.
