Alvin Robert Gray, 90

LIBERTY - Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at L. E. Black, Phillips &
Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Road Youngstown, for Mr. Alvin Robert
Gray, 90, who transitioned to his heavenly home March 3, at Liberty Health
Center.
Mr. Gray was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Christiansburg, Va., a son of John and
Ella Nunley Gray.
He was employed by General Motors Lordstown in the Fabricating Plant and was
a Navy Veteran.
He was a faithful member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.
Alvin was a long-time member of Covenant Masonic Lodge No. 59, where he was
a frequent lecturer.
He loved wood carving and being with family.
He married the love of his life, the former Elizabeth ³Sis² Snead, Aug. 28,
1949, and she passed away Jan. 14, 2000, having enjoyed 50 years of wedded
bliss.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Rev. David (Betty) Gray, of
Garrettsville; two grandchildren Nicole Davenport of Youngstown, and Assyria
Gray of Garrettsville; three great-grandchildren, John Davenport Jr., Jayana
Davenport and Kylenna Gray; and a nephew who was like a son, Gregory
(Danita) Snead of Warren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother John
³Hence² Gray; and two sisters Bessie and Bill.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m. at the
funeral home.
