Alice Saunders

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2018 at St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church for Ms. Alice Saunders, 86, of Woodbridge, Virginia, formerly of Youngstown, who departed this life Friday, June 15, 2018.

            Ms. Saunders was born July 17, 1931 in Raleigh, NC, a son of Gathon and Georgia Laws Thomas.  She was a 1949 graduate of South High School and had worked as an office Manager for over 15 years in the office of Dr. Fred Pruitt, retiring in 2008.  She was a member of St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church and the N.A.A.C.P.  She enjoyed shopping, traveling (especially cruising), and cooking for her family. 

            She leaves to cherish her beloved memories, two children, Claudia Hauser (Bobby) of Woodbridge, VA and Harold Saunders, Jr. of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Albert, Chawndra, Leon, Ronald and Harold III; 13 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Peeples of Columbus; and a host of family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Michael Saunders.

            Friends may call Friday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
