Ernest L. Somerset

            Mr. Ernest L. Somerset, 74, of Farrell, Pennsylvania, entered eternal life on Monday, April 8, 2024 at UPMC in Farrell, PA.

            Mr. Somerset was born December 20, 1949 in Sharon, PA, a son of Fred and Berthel Taylor Somerset.  He was a 1969 graduate of Farrell High School.  Ernest had worked at Sharon Steel, retiring after over 25 years of service.  He was a member of Greater Morris Chapel A.M.E. Church.  During his pastimes, Ernest enjoyed collecting trains and remote control cars, and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  His relaxation time was sitting the garage with his friends, but most of all he loved being with his children.

            He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life and legacy, five children, Arelette (Norman) Wilson, Lezlie Somerset Pope, and Corwin Somerset all of Farrell, Jermaine Somerset of Virginia, and Yauna Hyatt of Cleveland; two brothers, Willard (Audrey) Somerset of Harrisburg, PA and Carl Somerset of Sharon; four grandchildren, Symone and Markell Somerset, Alonzo Scott and Jordann Wilson; two great grandchildren, Loralita and DeMaryius Scott.

            Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; two sons, Ernest L. Somerset Jr. and Ernest J. Somerset; three brothers, his twin-Eric Somerset, Milton Somerset and Arnett Williams; and a sister, Delores Somerset.

            Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Greater Morris Chapel A.M.E., 926 Darr Ave., Farrell, PA. 16121.  Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m.
