Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the New Hope Baptist Church, 437 Albert St., for Mr. Willie Eris Williams, 72, who departed this life on Nov. 12, 2017.

Mr. Williams was born Feb. 10, 1945, in Macon, Miss., a son of Judge Tate and Ollie B. Williams.

He had been employed at General Motors Lordstown for 35 years. He had attended the Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ. He loved fishing, racing, estate sales, singing and collecting coins and stamps, and being with his family. Willie enjoyed traveling and taking cruises.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his father; his wife, the former Elaine Booker, whom he married Oct. 30, 2001; seven children, Melanie Williams of Detroit, Tiffany Williams and Tonnachamane Carter, both of Youngstown, Eris and Ramirez Williams and Julian and Janee’ Eggleston, all of New Castle, Pa.; siblings, six brothers, Duane Witherspoon of Youngstown, Eddie (Geraldine) Tate, Robert (Charity) Tate, James and Bruce Tate, all of Erie, Pa., and Jerry (Shirley) Tate of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Stella (Paul) Beckwick of Maryland and Della Quinn of Erie; 30 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; uncles Eddie and James Williams; aunts Bernice Williams, Ella Mae Skinner and Mattie Williams; his nephew, Jamal “Tito” (Lynette) Brown; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a son, Kevin Williams; three sisters, Ruby and Mattie B. Witherspoon, and April Rose Davis; and two brothers, Tommy Witherspoon and Lee Ervin Williams.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the church.

Arrangements were entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
