Ms. Sallie Mae Booker was born May 11, 1949 in Alabama, the daughter of the late Wash and Matilda Lamb Cobb.  She was a true believer in God and was in the church all of her life.  Sallie was a wonderful mother, beautician and foster mother.  She loved to cook, bake and would always insist on feeding her family and guest.  She was a true and living testimony through all of the sickness she endured.  She was known for her stylish flare and loved her hats. 

On Wednesday afternoon, February 15, 2017, at the St. Elizabeth Health Center, Sallie transitioned to her new heavenly home.

She leaves to mourn her passing, but to rejoice her peace, her children, sons, Alphonso Booker, Jr. of Youngstown and Howard Booker of Columbus; a daughter, Felicia (Ron) Kitchen of Youngstown; six grandchildren, LaTaya and Nataya McCrae of Columbus, Justin Booker, Brian Murray, Jr. Marlon Booker and Aiden Booker all of Youngstown; a brother, James (Jan) Cobb of Gary, IN; a sister, Emma Smothers of Detroit, MI; a sister, Annie Hall of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband, Alphonso Booker, Sr.; four brothers, Leon Cobb, Henry Cobb, Willie B. Cobb and David Cobb; and a sister, Jessie Walter.

Friends may call Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, where funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m.  Arrangements were entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
