Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Michael Douglas Mitchell, 59, of Youngstown, who departed this life, Sunday Feb. 5, 2017 at Akron General Hospital.

Michael, affectionately known as “Mickey”, was born September 30, 1957 in Youngstown, a son of Daniel L. Sr. and Willa Mae Vaughns Mitchell. He was a 1976 graduate of East High School and attended Youngstown State University before embarking on an extensive career in warehouse and delivery distribution. Mickey enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, music, singing, and loved to watch horse racing, wrestling and college football.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Mechelle Wingo and C’Erra Wingo; two grandsons, D’Michael Wingo and Matthias Miller all of Akron; and a host of siblings, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.  

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and step-father, William V. Taylor; sister, E. Marie Mitchell; grandparents, Harvey & Jennie Lee Crooks Vaughns, Oscar Hamilton, Oscar L. “O.K.” & Betsy Mitchell.

Visitation hour will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
