“Who can find a virtuous woman….. (Proverbs 31.10)

On Thursday, April 6, 2017, the Angels of the Lord gently escorted Pastor Mary Ethel Tucker, 96, of Youngstown to her eternal home.

Pastor Tucker was born August 21, 1920 in Monroeville, Alabama, a daughter of Marshall and Annie Bell Lee White.  A loving homemaker, Mary recognized her call from our Heavenly Father to minister to others in 1948.  She was the founder and pastor of the United Church of Jesus Christ.  Following the will of God, she was led to become a pastor/teacher and very influential in the establishment of the Abundant Love Outreach Ministry.  She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, where she served as a minister and prayer warrior.  She enjoyed cooking (especially baking), canning, traveling, gardening, playing the piano. Many times she used her front porch for teaching and training neighborhood young people.  Mother Tucker loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren.

Mother Tucker was married to the late Woodrow W. Tucker, Sr., and to this union ten children were born.

She leaves to mourn her passing, but to rejoice in her peace eight children, Louise (Lloyd) Coleman of Powder Springs, GA, Sadie (Billy) Jackson, Mary E. Tucker, Kalep Tucker, and Voncile Tucker all of Youngstown, Anthony (Gloria) Tucker of Portsmouth, VA, John Marshall Tucker of Columbus and Wilson Tucker of Kennesaw, GA; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and a host of loving family, church family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Mary Miller; a son, Woodrow W. Tucker, Jr.; a brother, Eugene White; three sisters, Bessie Lee Jones, Oralena Frost and Elizabeth McDonald.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, 1812 Oak Hill Avenue.  Funeral services will follow immediately at 10:00 a.m.
