Marie Hobby

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the New Bethel Baptist Church for Mrs. Marie Hobby, 73, of Youngstown, who passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Mrs. Hobby was born July 31, 1944 in Mount Bye, Mississippi, a daughter of David L. and Christine Hampton Richardson.  She was a 1965 graduate of South High School.  She had been employed with the Youngtown City School and as a machine operator at Brentwood Originals for over 25 years, retiring in 2015.  She was a member of Calvary Free Will Church and was a mother of the church.  Marie enjoyed shopping, reading, cooking,  and being with her children, grandchildren and family.  She became a football enthusiast when her grandson, Jeremy, played football with the Boardman Spartans. 

She leaves to cherish her beloved memories, her husband, Eugene, whom she married September 24, 1965; three children, Angela Hobby of Memphis, TN, Eugene Hobby, Jr. and Marcus Hobby both of Youngstown; four grandchildren whom she reared, Jeremy (Delena) Hobby, Jakita and Jadaja Lawrence, and Tylaya Burnett all of Youngstown; four great grandchildren; six sisters, Shelley Langston and Tonya Richardson both of Youngstown, Lillian Mills of Girard, Loretta Mills of Liberty, Wanda Mills of Brooklyn, NY, and Mayola Mills of Austintown; six brothers, Pete (Lillian) Richardson of Baton Rouge, LA, Earl (Cheryl) Richardson of Campbell, Curtis Richardson of Youngstown, Leonard (Cynthia) Richardson of Dayton, Clifford Richardson of Creed Moore, NC, and Michael Mills of Girard; a host of nieces, including Shonita Hudson and Jeronica Wolfe whom she reared both of Youngstown, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, David,Jr., James, and Charles Richardson, Jessie and Robert Mills; her mother-in-law, Ruby London; and brother-in-law, Roosevelt Hobby.

Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
