 Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Maggie Mary McBride, 83, of Liberty who departed this life June 25, 2017 at Northside Medical Center.

 Mrs. McBride, affectionately known as “Mae”, was born March 15, 1934 in Campbell, a daughter of Grant and Maggie Scott Dixon.  She had worked as a nurses assistant at Upjohn Health Care and Weavers Nursing Home.  She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, its choir and usher ministries, church secretary, and worked on several committees.  She was a den mother with the Boy Scouts and work with the Girl Scouts.

 Her husband, Grady, Sr., whom she married October 31, 1950 and passed away August 24, 1991.

 She leaves to mourn her passing, but to rejoice in her eternal peace, five children, Grady (Arlinda) McBride of Atlanta, GA, Patricia McBride of Wasco, CA, Linda McBride Vaughn of Liberty, LaTheresa (Tommy) Butler of Campbell, and Edmund (Tiffany) McBride of Liberty; 23 grandchildren, including Tahia McBride whom she reared and made her home with, and Shylinda Myles whom she reared; 35 great grandchildren,  1 great-great grandson;  a sister, Rosie Hall; sister-in-laws, Shirley (Leonard) Ellerbe of Rockingham, N. C. and Beatrice (Dan) Mathis of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of other family and friends.

 Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Darryl Fitzpatrick; three brothers, James, Fred, and Grant Dixon; a sister, Christine Dixon; a brother-in-law, Henry Motes; and a son-in-law, William Vaughn.

 The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Sheris Soliman and Life Fleet for their care and concern during the illness of Mary.

 Friends may call Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
