Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 for Mrs. Johnnie Mae Jackson, 84 of Youngstown, who departed this life Sunday, August 21, 2016 at her home surrounded by her beloved family.
Mrs. Jackson, affectionately known as “NaNa”, was born August 27, 1931 in Ashville, North Carolina, a daughter of Ernest and Mable Hudson Toland. She was a member of St. Andrewes A.M. E. Church, its Mothers Ministry and Usher Ministry. She loved taking care of children and helping others. Johnnie Mae was an avid reader of the Bible an enjoyed gospel music. A devoted homemaker, she enjoyed cooking for her family and whoever would come by her home.
She leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Earnestine Hall of Atlanta, GA; 11 grandchildren, including Tracey L. Stone (James Hayes) her caregiver, with whom she made her home; 36 great grandchildren, including LaToya Jackson and Britney (Bernard) Corinaldi who helped to care for her; 45 great great grandchildren; 3 great great great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ike” Rivers; three daughters, Barbara Jackson, Joyce Jackson Hayes and Shirley Rivers; two sons, Mark and Theodore Rivers, Jr; a sister, Mozella Vincent; and three grandchildren, Christine Howie, Corey D. “Babe” Stone, and Theodore “Ted” Rivers III.
