Jerome C. (Jerry G) Garner
November 18, 1949 ~ September 20, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years OldFuneral services for Mr. Jerome C. Garner, 67, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home. He entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at the Ahuja Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Garner, affectionately known as “Jerry G.” was born Nov. 18, 1949, in Youngstown, a son of Herman and Mae Christian Garner.
He was a 1969 graduate of North High School and later completed cosmetology school. Mr. Garner was a natural entrepreneur. He sold clothing, records and was known “to be able to sell anything.” He was the business owner of T.O.U.C.H. and was a former employee of Youngstown Sheet & Tube and General Motors. He loved taking pictures and will be dearly missed by all.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Ansen Christian of Booneville, Miss.; one daughter, Shanjya (Stanley) Ward of Atlanta; three brothers, Herman Garner Jr. of Youngstown, Ronald Muhammad of Atlanta, and Pasha Alamin of California; two sisters, Deborah McLendon of Youngstown and DeLisa Garner Bland of Atlanta; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Garner and Linda Garner, both of Youngstown, Gail Lee Garner of Chicago and Yonge Ye Garner of Cleveland; three best-friends, Lawrence Powell, Kermit Henderson and Craig Hamilton of Cleveland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerome was known by many celebrities. He and Joe Jackson were partners in “Joe Cola.” He had many friends and everywhere he went he made friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Richard, Carl and Daniel Garner.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services, from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
