Services will be 12noon Friday, April 20, 2018 at Third Christian Church, 241 First Street for Elder James D. Jenkins Jr. 87, who departed this life April 15, 2018 at his home. Mr. Jenkins was born June 13, 1930 in Fairmont, W. Va., a son of Lucille Terry Adams and James D Jenkins Sr. He was an Air Force Veteran and had been employed as a coal miner and retired from the B&O Railroad. He was a faithful member of Third Christian Church where he served as Elder, Deacon, custodian, and sang in the choir. He was an amateur boxer, loved playing cards. He was a mentor to the children in his neighborhood. He loved sports, especially baseball and football. He married the love of his life, Geraldine (Blutcher) Jenkins September 10, 1956. He leaves to cherish his memories and rejoice in his peace his loving wife Geraldine of 61 years; six daughters Patricia Blutcher, Vanessa (Keith) Whitehead, Leslie Harvey, Diane Jenkins-Ruffin all of Warren, Ohio, Sheryl (Rev. Joseph II) Glover of Uniontown, OH., and Gloria Mickens of Masontown, PA.; five sons James D.Jenkins III of Detroit, MI., Richard Jenkins and Lee Dobbins of Masontown, PA., David Jenkins of Warren and Theodore “Pete” Jenkins of Lithonia, Ga.; a granddaughter whom he reared Marchella (Bobby) Starks of Lordstown, Oh.; a sister Amy Palmer of Detroit, MI.; 49 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by seven sisters, three brothers and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call one hour prior to the services 11:00am-12:00pm at the church.
